Congratulations to this week's Athlete of the Week, Christian Bossley, from track and field! Christian ran the 400m dash for just his third time this season and improved his time from 59 seconds to 55 seconds against Hughesville last Tuesday. He also scored a first place in high jump, second place in long jump, and second place in javelin to go along with his second place finish in the 400m dash to round out a dominate, well-rounded performance on the day. Congrats Christian!

Congratulations to Brieanna Twigg on being named "Athlete of the Week" for the week of 4/15! She had a season best time in the 200 with a time of 28.55 at the LHU Invite! Brieanna also took first place in the 200 against Norry Christian! Way to go Brieanna!

Congratulations to baseball player, Trevor Miller, on being honored as this week's Athlete of the Week! Trevor had outstanding games last week on the mound as he pitched a combined 6 innings only giving up 2 runs and striking out 5 batters! Trevor picked up the win against rival Muncy and also came on in relief against powerhouse Montoursville and kept the Red Raiders in the game. Trevor not only had an excellent week on the mound, but also at the plate. His week was highlighted by a key double against Muncy which helped earn the victory! Congratulations Trevor!

With the spring season finally off and running it is my privilege to announce the first athlete of the week for the spring season as softball player, Taylor McRae! Taylor opened up her high school career with a performance to remember against CMVT by going 3-5 with a three-run home run in her first ever game! She has been a force in the softball lineup that has exploded in the first couple weeks of the season! Congratulations Taylor!

Congratulations to the athlete of the week, Logan Almeida! Logan is playing point guard on the boys basketball team and having an outstanding freshman campaign. He is a leader on the floor and doing a great job commanding the team. Logan had a breakout performance against CMVT scoring 29 points. This was not only his career high, but also the high for any player on the team this year.

Coach Mowrey had this to say about Kai: Kai started off the week with a pin against Sugar Valley Rural Charter and at the Lackawanna Trail Dual Tournament, Kai went 5-0 on the day. Out of those 5 duals, Kai had an impressive four pins on the day. Currently, Kai is 13-9 on the season. He currently serves as one of our team captains. Kai is a leader in the wrestling room and works very hard. Way to go Kai!

It is my privilege to announce this week's Athlete of the Week as girls basketball player, Riley Fry! Riley had an outstanding 3 game stretch on the court scoring 32 points and grabbing 24 rebounds while making the Dionna Satteson All-Tournament Team. During those games she also had 10 blocks and dished out 5 assists! Not only did Riley make the all-tournament team, she also won the foul shooting contest during the tournament! Way to represent! Congratulations to the first Athlete of the Week from the winter sports season, Devon Deem. Devon competed in the 24 team DKI wrestling tournament this past weekend and finished in 3rd place. He finished the tournament 6-1 with four falls. His only loss came when he was defeated by the 2018 PIAA 6th place finisher. Congratulations Devon!

It is my privilege to announce this week's Athlete of the Week from the girls tennis team, Abby Stryker. Abby has been a staple in the girls tennis team's success the past two years. She plays at the #2 singles position and is a captain for the team. Abby has helped lead the team to a 16-2 overall record and a league championship. Her coaches had this to say about her: "Abby is a great captain for the team. From the time she steps onto the court she fights until the very end of each match. She does what it takes to win for herself and for her teammates. All of her coaches and peers admire and respect her for her work ethic on and off the courts. She leads by example. " Way to go Abby!

It is my privilege to announce Brayden Strouse as this week's "Athlete of the Week." After suffering an injury the first week of the season Brayden has displayed great leadership and served as a player-coach during his time off the field. He came back with a vengeance last week! Coach Bozella had this to say about him: "Brayden Strouse made his return Friday night against Muncy and made his presence felt immediately! Brayden threw for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns and he led drives like a general. During the last drive, which will go down in Montgomery football history, Brayden threw a screen pass to Hunter Budman for the score that set up the win and captured the Old Shoe for the first time in 14 years." Congratulations Brayden!

It is my honor to announce this week's athlete of the week as Mikey Miller from the golf team! Mikey had a great week of action last week by qualifying for Districts again this year and placing 4th in the Lycoming County Championships last Friday. Coach Cloud is super proud of Mikey and the perseverance that he has showed throughout this tremendous battle. He epitomizes what it means to be a Red Raider athlete. Mikey will compete for the District 4 title next Thursday at Eagles Mere! Congratulations and good luck Mikey! You make us all very proud!

It is my privilege to announce this week's "Athlete of the Week" as Rhyle Strausbaugh! Rhyle has had two outstanding performances in the first two weeks of the season and is one of the areas leading defensive players. He demonstrates quality leadership and maturity and is everything an MASD athlete should be. Coach Bozella had this to say: "Rhyle set the tone for the defense and made key plays to ensure our first half shut out of Canton. Rhyle ended the game with 16 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, and a blocked extra point. On offense he scored a 40 yard touchdown for our only score of the game. Rhyle deserves recognition for being an absolute complete player and team leader." Congratulations to Rhyle Strausbaugh!
